Situated in the Matara district this coastal town is only a half hours drive from Galle. This bay is famous for its stilt fishing. This is a method where the fishermen sit balanced on tall poles fixed out in the sea and wait patiently for the fish to approach and swim around them. The bay is set in beautiful tropical surroundings .Fringed by coconut palms,  it is a wonderful place for swimming surfing diving and sun bathing. The visitor can also visit the famous fishery harbor, or  take a whale and dolphin watching boat trip.
