This city 40 kms  south of Colombo on the coast is hard to miss. Situated on the banks of the mighty Kalu ganga/river all travellers stop to pay homage to the famous Kalutara  Bo-tree and worship at the famous pagoda before continuing their travels. The Reflection of this Gigantic pagoda on the river water makes it all the more prominent. And the hundreds of oil lamps that are lit to mark the path of the pilgrim make Kalutara and its temple a sight to behold at night.
