Beruwela

Situated on the western coast and and a short distance south from Colombo, and few minutes from Bentota. It is an ancient fishing and trading port, with a natural harbor in rocky surroundings. The visitor has a magnificent view of the Indian ocean. This is the town where the first Arabic traders established residence, and one can witness the oldest mosque in the country. There are protected coves, and the Bay is ideal for swimming all year round. It has several leading hotels and resorts in the vicinity and tourists can visit the Beruwela fisheries harbor, or take a boat trip to the famous Island light house. Fish is in plenty all year round and is a major part of the cuisine.
