This busy hill country city is the center of the tea industry in Sri Lanka. Situated at 1200 meters above sea level about 40 km from Kandy. Its hilly terrain is ideal for the high grown tea, and is the center of the surrounding tea growing region .The surrounding countryside is one of scenic beauty. Hill sides carpeted with tea bushes and emerald forests, with rivers and streams flowing down gushing waterfalls. Hatton is also the gateway to Adams peak (SriPada), and the Sinharaja rainforest reserve.
